We first found mention of Pete Brady and the Playboys in 1957, an act that was working in Toronto, and had just completed their sixth engagement at the Bermuda Tavern on Younge Street. The group also had a comedic wardrobe, so it appears they were quite versatile entertainers. In 1956, they completed a successful tour of Goose Bay, Labrador, where they entertained the American troops.

The Northern Troubadours hailed from Edmonton and their band leader was the late Johnny Barteski,fiddle and vocals.Johnny came from from Invermay Saskatchewan originally. Paul Chychul is featured on dulcimer ('Tsymbaly') and these tunes are sure to get you hopping or make you want to hold your sweetheart close. Their label is Heritage Records,who have given licensing to Winnipeg's Sunshine Records/Rig Publishing. Their original Heritage Records discography includes several 12" LP vinyl releases.

born James Hugh Loden on May 1, 1928 to farming parents in rural Hackleburg, Alabama he was only three years old when his father gave his young son a handmade mandolin – the instrument was made out of a molasses bucket. Later Sonny added the guitar and fiddle; winning competitions as a teen. Released his debut single in 1953 “That’s Me Without You” and the song reached the top 10 on the music chart
sent a string of 16 consecutive singles to the top of the music charts. He had a total of 26 hit records.
