Malcolm Tomlinson - b. Isleworth UK June 16, 1946 – d. Toronto April 1, 2016
Tomlinson
began is career in the UK in 1960 as a member of a West London band called
The Panthers. June 1962 he joined Jeff Curtis & The Flames. 1964 he
joined the Del Mar Trio who became James Deane &I The London Cats and
recorded 4 tracks at EMI’s Abby Road Studio.
June 1966
joined The Noblemen which became The Motivation then The Penny Peeps.
1969 moved to Toronto with guitar buddy Louois McKelvey. They formed the band Milkwood which appeard at the Toronto Rock n’ Roll Revival in September. MT went on to play in varous outher Toronto bands: Jay Telfer, Syrinx and Rhinoceros; joined Stone City Band with Rick James in 1973. Recorded his two solo LPs for A&M records in 1977 & 79. Moved into the Bain Apts Co-op where he lived for many years., He leaves behind his son Ryland, daughter Erica-Leigh and partner Henrietta Walmark.

The Ugly Ducklings
formed
in 1965 under the name The Strolling Bones, and blatantly displayed their
admiration for the Rolling Stones. The band even had a Brian Jones
look-a-like in Glynn Bell. Made their live debut at Cedarbrae High School
in Toronto
Nothin’
was recorded for only $300 on a 2-track machine at Hallmark Studios.
The Ugly
Ducklings landed a gig opening for their idols, the Rolling Stones, at
Maple Leaf Gardens in June 1966.
