A band with two Marthas: Martha and the Muffins: a Canadian new wave band, active from 1977 to the present. Made their debute at an Ontario College of Art Hallowe'en party in October 1977. According to Mark Gane: "We decided to use it as a temporary name until we could all agree on something better."

The First Canadian Artists signed to Island Records
An all night DJ on the new CHUM-FM open format radio station in Toronto 1968: along with Reiner Schwartz, John Donabie and David Marsden, the deans of Canadian alternative rock broadcasters.

He rose to prominence in 1968 when he became the late-night man at CHUM, where it wasn't unheard of him to broadcast classical, jazz and electronic records simultaneously on the station's three turntables, Mr. Donabie says.

His radio series The Beatles: The Days in Their Lives was broadcast in thirty countries throughout the world.

En El Principio from Spanish: In The Beginning

In The Beginning is a live to tape recording of the original ‘Taste’ in a studio in Belfast, 1967. Taste (originally "The Taste") was formed in Cork, Ireland, in August 1966. The Original Line-up lasted until 1968 and this is once of the only recordings of them since the engineer wiped a master tape clean which featured some other songs not on this album.

The band's name is derived from the Hindi word pukka, which in UK slang can mean "very good". Rubber Girl was self-financed and produced. The band’s first album came out three years later, in 1984. The Toronto Police Service attempted to block radio airplay of their hit, "Cherry Beach Express",  due to its theme of opposition to police brutality.
