In a concert at Midway Stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota, on July 10, 2013, Dylan said he had been on the stage with many stars, but that none of them were as meaningful as Vee. He said Vee was in the audience and then played Vee's hit "Suzie Baby" with emotion.

Thompson was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989 and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1997. Recorded one of Kitchener’s Lynn Russwurm’s songs!

Fernand Thibault b. 1920 / d. 1967

Originally released as a 78 on RCA’s Bluebird label series. He recorded plenty of records, mostly polkas and reels, between the early part of the 50s. Most of his tunes were named after northern towns like Timmins, Val D’or, Kirkland Lake. Around that time he was asked to back Hal Willis, the future  Lumberjack Man, on the bass on a record for Rodeo Records in Montreal. He was joined there by Paul Menard on fiddle and the Hachey Brothers band.

It is generally thought that Thibault was the first person from the Abitibi region to record. The others who recorded during that time were Willis and Jimmy James.

These guys formed as The Druids in NYC in 1965. They played the club scene and had a good following. In 1967 they decided to make the pilgrimage to California where they got more into phsychadelic sounds. There, they signed to Uni Records (Universal) and recorded their only album, Creation, and changing their name to The Druids of Stonehenge. The following year they were toast.

"Roxy Roller" reached #1 in the RPM national singles survey on June 26, 1976, and held that position for three weeks. It went on to win a Juno Award for "Best Selling Single" in 1977. The band recorded two albums before calling it a day.

After vocalist Nick Gilder left the band to start a solo career, and was replaced by a young Bryan Adams. Gilder went on to have quite a successful solo career.
