Aynsley Thomas Dunbar (born Liverpool UK, 10 January 1946)

Though he was only 21 when he formed the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, the drummer had already played with several bands of note in both his native Liverpool and London. He did his stint with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers (replaced by Mick Fleetwood), after which he played for a few months in the Jeff Beck Group before forming Retaliation.

After Retaliation he formed Blue Whale, releasing one album, he joined Frank Zappa’s newly reformed Mothers of Invention. He later went on to play or record with David Bowie, Lou Reed, Herbie Mann, Mick Ronson, Jefferson Starship, White Snake, UFO, Leslie West, Pat Travers.

Dunbar was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017.

Robert David Edwards b. Scarborough ON November 24, 1948

“I was on with Tommy Hunter, Front Page Challenge, and the Friendly Giant, I was Rusty,” he said. “During that time I got out with a few musicians like Wayne Newton, Kenny Rodgers, Bobby Vinton, Sonny an Cher and Lawrence Welk,” he said. “I also had the chance to work with Patsy Cline and Chet Atkins.”

Most likely the most recorded Canadian musician of all times! Super guitarist, Edwards turned professional when he was still in his mid-teens. By the time he was 21 he had amassed a great portfolio of recorded works, playing on recordings, jingles and in television studio bands. has been a featured guitarist with Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Henry Mancini, Anne Murray, Paul Anka, and Kenny Rogers. He’s been credited with having performed on over 1000 TV shows and many motion pictures. Truly one of the unsung heroes of Canadian recorded music. His personal recorded output is minimal so enjoy.

The band’s name, Teenage Head, came from a Flaming Groovies album of the same name. They were formed in 1975. Their performance at The Gary’s Last Tango, at the Horseshoe Tavern, resulted in a riot out on Queen Street. In 1983 they signed with an American label, MCA, who damanded that they change their name to Teenage Heads.

Al Harris b. Toronto 1922 – 2006

Was the versitile guitarist for the Tommy Hunter Show on CBC TV through the 1960s. He wrote the Peoples’ Credit Jewellers song that every kid in Toronto knew by heart. He gave Lenny Breau lessons in reading music. At age 18 he was declared Canada’s Best Guitarist by DownBeat Magazine. He then got a job playing for the Mart Kenney Orchestra before joining CBC’s Country Hoedown show. He continued playing professionally well into the 2000s.

Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha (b. Santiago de Cuba, March 2, 1917 / d. December 2, 1986 Del Mar CA)

Produced for the film “Holiday In Havana”

Following the 1933 Cuban Revolution, led by Fulgencio Batista, Desi’s father, Alberto Arnaz, was jailed and all of his property was confiscated. He was released after six months when his brother-in-law intervened on his behalf and the family then fled to Miami.

He began acting in 1939 and met Lucille Ball the following year. They eloped on November 30, 1940. In 1951 Desi-Lu productions began their (which the two co-owned) premiered the I Love Lucy show on TV which ended in 1957. By then everyone in America knew Desi as Ricky Ricardo.

Bobby’s Girl sold over one million copies by 1963, and was awarded a gold disc. It was Blane’s only real hit. Blane recorded it as a favour to a friend as a demo but the people at Seville Records (US Label) decided to release it and it was an instant hit. Marcie was away that summer, working as a camp councillor; nobody there knew that she had a hit song! After her brief career, she went to college to become a school teacher.

Vincent Eugene Craddock (b. Norfolk, VA, February 11, 1935 / d. Newhall, CA October 12, 1971)

In 1956 he wrote "Be-Bop-A-Lula", a major hit. This was its followup. In the spring of 1960, Vincent convinced his pal, Eddie Cochrane, to tour England with him. On a taxi ride through Wiltshire, going to a gig, the car crashed, killing Cochrane and leaving Vincent with a bad limp that he was have for the rest of his life. He continued playing through the ‘60s.

Vincent died at the age of 36 on October 12, 1971, from a ruptured stomach ulcer, while visiting his father in California. He was the first artist inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame upon its formation in 1997. The following year he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Vincent has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
