Andy Shauf born in Estevan, Saskatchewan

He used a band on the demos for this album but for some reason ended up playing almost all of the instruments on the album himself. His song "Wendell Walker" from The Bearer of Bad News was shortlisted for the 2016 SOCAN Songwriting Prize, and his latest album, The Party, was a shortlisted finalist for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize.

Joshua Michael Tillman (born May 3, 1981 Rockville, Maryland)

In 2008, Tillman joined Seattle folk rock band Fleet Foxes as their drummer.
Changed his image and stage routine into a more hard hitting, uplifting manner than the sad, sombre singer-songwriter style he used previously as John Tillman. Thus, in 2012, Father John Misty arrived.

Leon Redbone b. August 26, 1949 in Cyprus

According to a Toronto Star report in the 1980s, he was once known as Dickran Gobalian, and he came to Canada from Cyprus in the mid-1960s and changed his name via the Ontario Change of Name Act.[4] However, an article about producer John H. Hammond in a 1973 issue of the Canadian jazz magazine Coda states that he was a native of Philadelphia who moved to Toronto. Redbone was discovered by Bob Dylan at the Mariposa Folk Festival and mentioned him in a Rolling Stone magazine interview which lead Redbone to a recording contract.

Redbone has performed in several TV commercials, including Budweiser beer, in which he lies on a surfboard singing "This Bud's for You", also lent his voice to an animated caricature of himself in a commercial for Ken-L Ration dog food. Redbone retired from music in 2015 due to health problems.

Sub Pop is a record label founded in 1986 by Bruce Pavitt. In 1988, Sub Pop Records was formed by Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman in Seattle, Washington. Sub Pop achieved fame in the late 1980s for signing Seattle bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney.

The band took its name from recordings they made in a timber-framed cabin set in the wooded outskirts of Bobcaygeon, Ontario.

The band's fifth record, Hot Dreams, was released April 1, 2014. It was a shortlisted nominee for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize, but lost to Tanya Tagaq's Animism.

He began his musical career in high school as a member of a ska band called Gangster Politics. Watson "played" a bicycle in the studio for the song "Beijing". The song "Beijing" was inspired by the movie Being John Malkovich, and the idea of finding oneself in someone else's life in Beijing.

Sibylle Baier (born February 25, 1955), Germany

Colour Green was recorded on a reel-to-reel tape recorder in Baier's home in Germany. Part of the album was inspired by a trip through Europe by Baier and her friend Claudine. Some 30 years later, her son Robby compiled a CD from these recordings to give to family members as presents. He also gave a copy to Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis, who in turn passed it along to the Orange Twin label. Orange Twin released the album in February 2006.
