“As Long As There’s Winter…” was used for a 1975 Ski-doo commercial on TV. Alan Rhoddy was recruited to do the lead vocals on it. Bud Roberts had been a truck driver and had a song written for him by Stompin’ Tom: it was called “Bud The Spud” but he failed to record it (so Connors did the honours himself!). He had a rocky professional music career, put out a couple of albums and had a few minor hit songs, including Jimmy Simpson’s ‘Alcan Run’. The "Alcan Run" song would later also be recorded by Canadian balladeer Stompin' Tom Connors. “The Longest Run” was very similar in structure and in some ways just as good as The Alcan Run. His only other hit was his own composition called “I’ve Got The Bottle and The Bar Stool”.

When Bill Haley and the Comets toured in the Maritimes in 1958, they were selected as the Canadian group to open for them. He toured in the United States, touring with Buddy Knox and The Fendermen.
