Whatever happened to Blues Project, a New York fusion blues band lead by Al Kooper? By 1968 they were done but owed their label another album. Seatrain recorded their first album, Planned Obsolescence, in 1968, but had to release it as a Blues Project album for contractual reasons. They released the first Seatrain album in 1969. Soon after, he moved back to the UK, formed a new Spencer Davis Group which only lasted about a year. He then took a job with Island Records in the mid-1970s. This is from their first album, recorded for Ray Daniel's Taurus Records in 1975 and re-released on his Anthem (Rush) label in 1977. Mine is the original Taurus copy.

BTW Geddy Lee used to call himself The Nose when he was 14 and used to say: “The Nose Knows”. That’s the way he signed my copy of Piper at the Gates of Dawn which also has a reference to Alex Lifeson (as Živojinović) who, according to a classmate named Sam, claims that Alex ‘Stinks’.

The Dog Star Sirius is the brightest star in our sky  in the constellation Canis Major (The Greater Dog). It was featured in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1979), novel and series by Douglas Adams. Most of the technology mentioned in the Hitchhiker series consists of products of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation, a decidedly inept company responsible for the design and creation of a wide range of robots and labor-saving devices, none of which worked as intended.

The Dog Star Sirius was also a feature reference in Paul Quarrington’s novel ‘Logan in Overtime’. (Basically about a hockey game up in Sudbury that goes into about twenty overtime periods). The “Mind-fuckers from the Dog Star Sirius were The Dogons. They were not fully formed beings, thus they could only take over an Earthling’s limb (which could be a problem for goaltenders).

12. Parris Mitchell Strings & Brass: Thunderball
(D Black / J Barry)
Secret Agent Themes: Pickwick Records PC 5001
Produced 1965

Hot on the heels of Goldfinger, the next Bond film had a lot to live up to and it did so. They even got Tom Jones to sing the theme song. The plot of Thunderball, the fourth Ian Fleming novel made into a film, was actually re-used in a unique 1983 Bond film, Never Say Never Again. This saw Sean Connery reprise his rold (for the last time) as Bond. This was the only Bond movie (other than the Casino Royal spoof) that was produced outside of the Eon Films production house. Eon Productions was the brainchild of Albert Broccoli (and has since been run by his daughter, Barbara). Because it was out of house, Never Say Never had to hire different actors to play Q and M and Felix. Connery got to utilize the old jet pack again from Dr. No.
