Another huge hit for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Little Eva was their baby sitter. The song reached #1 in the United States in 1962. Claude Russell Bridges
b. April 2, 1942 Lawton, Ok / d. Nov 13, 2016 (74) Mount Juliet, TN

Side one of this album features the typical keyboard styling’s of Leon Russell while side two goes very strange with psychedelia. As a pianist, he played in his early years on albums by The Beach Boys. On his first album, Leon Russell, in 1970, the musicians included Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. One of his biggest early fans, Elton John, said Russell was a "mentor" and an "inspiration". They recorded their album The Union in 2010, which earned them a Grammy nomination.

Russell produced and played and recorded with, among others  Jan and Dean, Gary Lewis, George Harrison, Delaney Bramlett, Freddy Cannon, Ringo Starr, Doris Day, Elton John, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, The Byrds, Barbra Streisand, The Ventures, Willie Nelson, Badfinger, the Tijuana Brass, Frank Sinatra, The Band, Bob Dylan, J. Chris Stevens: banjo
Anne Bourne: cello
Produced by Ed Blocki and Greg Reely, 1987
Recorded at Howe Sound, Vancouver by Greg Reely

A band lead by singer / songwriter Ed Blocki who, sadly, only released this one album. Featuring the cello playing of Anne Bourne on some tracks, it’s an atmospheric Bob Dylan and The Byrds concoction doing Tom Petty. If that makes any sense!

This was from the first Pig ‘N Whistle album featuring the cast of the popular TV series 1967 - 1977. It takes place in the pub set up in CTV’s Agincourt studios to look like a proper English pub. They even served non-alcohol beer to make it look real. Kay Turner played the bar maid who was coerced to sing. The music was very popular British dance hall stuff. But the band! The Carlton Showband who were amazing. They could play just about anything and do it well. They went on to release around thirty albums and performed around the world for fifty years. Their first big hit was ‘The Merry Ploughboy’ which went to No 2 on the CHUM Chart only to be blocked from the top spot by The Beatles with Eleanor Rigby / Yellow Submarine.

Klaatu was a Canadian progressive rock band formed in 1973 and disbanded in 1982. They released five studio albums, the most famous of which is the 1976 debut 3:47 EST (AKA Klaatu), which, due to a rumor started by a DJ, was believed by some to be a front for new work by the Beatles. In fact, The Beatles and Klaatu were Capitol Records label mates; when they were asked for comments, Capitol remained silent, letting the rumour fester and selling a lot of product. The album's artwork contained no credits for the performers, and there were at times vocal similarities with Lennon and McCartney. Klaatu was named after Michael Rennie's character in the classic science fiction film The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). Ringo Starr’s fourth solo album, Goodnight Vienna, which features Ringo on the front cover posing as the alien Klaatu.
