He cites as influences jazz guitarists George Benson and Kenny Burrell and bluegrass and country guitarists Clarence White and Doc Watson. He attended Berklee College of Music in 1971. At nineteen, he was hired by Chick Corea to replace Bill Connors in the pioneering jazz fusion band Return to Forever. After that band broke up in 1976, he began his solo career. After leaving the Fleetwood Mac in 1970, Peter went through very difficult times, totally withdrawing from the music industry. Ronald Clyde Crosby ka Jerry Jeff Walker
b. March 16, 1942 Oneonta NY / d. Oct 23, 2020 Austin TX (78)

Jerry Jeff got his start as a member of a local Oneonta teen band called ‘The Tones’. After high school, he joined the National Guard, but he went AWOL and roamed the country busking for coins in New Orleans, Texas, Florida, and New York. He played ukulele then until he settled on guitar in 1963. He adopted his stage name "Jerry Jeff Walker" in 1966.

He recorded the seminal album ‘Mr. Bojangles’ in 1968 with the help of David Bromberg and other influential Atlantic recording artists. He settled in Austin, Texas, in the 1970s, associating mainly with the outlaw country, anti-Nashville scene that had developed there which included artists such as  Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Waylon Jennings, and Townes Van Zandt. He went on to record a couple of dozen albums of great songs.

The saying, ‘Pissin’ in the Wind’ basically means that it’s generally a bad idea to do something. I think you probably get the picture.

Recorded on Analogue tape by Roy Gandy and Gary Bennett at Roy's Place, Essex
Vinyl Cutting by Ray Staff at AIR Studios, London
Pressed by Pallas Group GmbH

Stephen was born in Ireland and raised in BC where he rode a wave of popularity in his youth back in the mid-1980s. A guitar sleuth, his solo career took off when he signed with True North Records in the 1990s where he met label-mate Colin Linden who asked him to join with his Rodeo Kings project.

The Secret of Climbing is a fabulous, new record recorded for vinyl on analogue tape with no overdubs, just live off the floor. The way things used ta be.

The unknown musicians who play the electric guitar, standup bass, and drums
Produced by Fred Hellerman, 1967

Arlo Davy Guthrie
b. Brooklyn NY July 1947

Guthrie has been quoted as saying that after playing this song, live, for 45 years, that he’s still surprised that he gets away with (quote): ‘playing such a stupid song for such a long time!’ This is from his incredible first album, Alice’s Restaurant. Hard to know who backs him up; on the wiki page it says:  “The unknown musicians who play the electric guitar, standup bass, and drums."

In Russia: Pablo Records 2625-711
Montreal / Mississauga
Oscar Peterson: piano
Produced by Norman Granzinsky, 1976
Recorded Tallinn, Estonia, Nov 17, 1974

Interestingly, it’s called “In Russia” but the actual performance of this double album took place in Tallinn, Estonia! But it was all considered a communist block of countries under the USSR. Estonia, like Latvia and Lithuania, were totally controlled back then by the Kremlin. This album documents a milestone for “western” jazz in the Soviet bloc. Side one was Oscar alone while the other sides of the album include some backup players. The response is audible.

With his 1957 record Cool and Hot Sax on the New York-based Jubilee label, Koffman became one of the first Canadian jazz musicians to record a full-length album. He recorded Swinging Shepherd Blues in 1957 which helped establish his reputation as a flautist and ranked him alongside Herbie Mann and other great influential jazz flute players. "Swinging Shepherd Blues" was a hit in the United States, reaching #23 on the Billboard pop chart.

Rick & The Romans, who had been playing on the Newfoundland music scene for some time, decided that it was time to make a record. The problem was that they were low on financial resources. So what they did was pack up their van and head to Ontario where they found jobs picking tobacco, eventually arriving at Arc Records Studio where they realized they only had enough money for two hours of recording time. They only managed to get these two songs down on tape before time ran out.
