The soundtrack album, released in January 1968, contains two short versions of “Mrs. Robinson”, rather than the complete version subsequently released on Bookends. The recordings were made in 1967–68 as Paul Simon developed the song for Mike Nichols's film.
I played the full version from their Greatest Hits LP
Mrs Robinson won two Grammy Awards in 1969 for Record of the Year and Best Contemporary Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. The song appeared in The Graduate, Dustin Hoffman’s first major film appearance. It was included on the soundtrack as well as being released on Simon & Garfunkel’s 1968 Bookends album. The single release went to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Another pop hit from the songwriting duo of Sloan and Barri, who mostly wrote songs for The Grass Roots, Johnny Rivers and Barry McGuire. The Hermits never wrote any of their song, always searching out new material that would fit them. This one fit like a glove! Or at least, Mickie Most made it sound that way.

b. November 14, 1939 Pawtucket, Rhode Island
This is an excerpt of Timesteps as used by Stanley Kubrick in the film. Carlos went on to release an entire album of works that were either used in the film (in their entirety) or considered for inclusion. (A Clockwork Orange: Wendy Carlos's Complete Original Score, first released in 1972 as Walter Carlos' Clockwork Orange).
Carlos also began reading A Clockwork Orange, and noticed that the opening themes reflected the feeling of the first chapters of the book. Thereafter the piece developed, in Carlos' own words, into "an autonomous composition with an uncanny affinity for 'clockwork'", the last word being Carlos' way of referring to the book. When the film version was announced Carlos and producer Rachel Elkind made a demonstration recording for Kubrick, who became interested and invited them to meet him in London.

Just a fantastic indigenous traditional fiddler, Sinclair fathered kids like Vern and Thelma who followed him as recording artists. I had the privilege of meeting him in his home on Moose Factory back in the 1990s. At first, he wanted nothing to do with me until I could prove that I had nothing to do with the Canadian or Ontario governments. After that, he was very gracious, a lovely man who could really play.

A band of Chilean and Greek ex-pats opposing military take-overs of their countries with the establishment of right wing death squads and totalitarian regimes. They were the house band at the Danforth coffee house called The Trojan Horse, established in the early 70’s by poet Gwendolyn MacEwan. When the Trojan Horse closed down, they moved next door to The Lyra. These coffee houses were unlicensed, serving coffees and frappés.

Mentors for aspiring young women in the singer/songwriter field have been hard to come by. Joni Mitchell changed the way many women tried to express themselves. Not all mentors are well known to the public; Jane Siberry is one such artist who has shown women new ways of expressing passion in song. Whether it’s a portrait of being a waitress or a whimsical look at winter hockey her songs are always quirky, never going where you think they’re gonna go and still making sense. It set the stage for a host of Canadian singer/songwriters who felt more liberated in the way they could use their own voice as an instrument.

When he was eight years old, he was inspired by Elvis Presley and the Ventures to start playing guitar. His teacher directed him toward jazz standards. He cites as influences jazz guitarists George Benson and Kenny Burrell and bluegrass and country guitarists Clarence White and Doc Watson. He attended Berklee College of Music in 1971. At nineteen, he was hired by Chick Corea to replace Bill Connors in the pioneering jazz fusion band Return to Forever. After that band broke up in 1976, he began his solo career. His early albums were influential among rock and jazz guitarists.
