Born Richard Boudreau in Cape Breton Island
began entertaining audiences in the mid 1960s, and by '67 his band New Broom (with Matt Minglewood) was one of the hottest tickets in the Maritimes.
In '77 he formed The Sam Moon Band
Released his debut album, NEW MOON in the spring of 1982. As a marketing ploy, there were two versions of the album - one with a red jacket and one that was black. All the songs were originals, occasionally co-written with other artists on the East Coast

Matt Minglewood (born Roy Alexander Batherson, 31 January 1947 in Moncton, NB)
He later moved to nearby Glace Bay, Nova Scotia where he resides to the present day. Was part of a band called 'Sam Moon, Matt Minglewood & The Universal Power'. The group was formed in 1969 with Sam Moon and Minglewood sharing vocal duties.

Formed 1971 in Halifax. The Barkhouse produced "Shape Up Or Ship Out" was recorded at Solar Audio between March and September of 1979 and released the following year. Lake, Torreson and Moore all played on the album. Two songs "Believe Me Lady" and "See The Sun" that were on the first album were re-recorded for this album. Again, all songs were band originals. The band toured Quebec, Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces several times before they broke up in 1982.

Barkhouse relocated to Toronto for several years before returning to Halifax in the mid 90's and reunited with Lake to form Barkhouse, Lake and Cook.

Dave Baker was born in 1945 in Vancouver but grew up on Vancouver Island.
Dave attributes his success in music to the advice of his first producer. “Sing like you don’t need the money” and “Never quit your day job”. Dave was felled by a stroke in 1998 which weakened his singing voice and ended his working career. Recorded 3 vinyl albums and 4 CDs. Was really into railroad songs.

Michael" sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold record. In 1959, United Artists released this arrangement of the African-American work song "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore", first collected by folklorist Guy Carawan. A later band member was Gil Robbins (father of actor Tim Robbins) in 1962
The Highwaymen also made the first recording, or at least the first recording in the United States, of an important song by Buffy Sainte-Marie ("Universal Soldier") later covered by Donovan.

The Strawberry Statement: is a 1970 cult film about the counterculture and student revolts of the 1960s about the Columbia University protests of 1968. The film won the Jury Prize at the 1970 Cannes Film Festival.  The Loner" is a song by Neil Young, his first solo single. It was released on his solo debut album in November 1968, was written while Buffalo Springfield was in its last throes. It is the first Young track produced by David Briggs, with whom Young would collaborate until Briggs's death 1995.

Country Joe McDonald and Barry "The Fish" Melton had a background rooted in folk music, were enamored with the recordings of Woody Guthrie, and worked on the local acoustic coffeehouse circuit in the early 1960s. Were heavily involved in the anti-VietNamWar movement. Biggest moment was their performance at Woodstock.

Daniel David "Danny" Kirwan (born 13 May 1950)
Another Ex-member of Fleetwood Mac, joined when he was only 17. Had been previously been in a band called Boilerhouse who used to open gigs for Mac. He and Peter Green used to like jamming so it was only natural for Green to invite Kirwin into his band.  After various personnel changes (Green gone; Spencer leaving; Christine McVie entering) and a few albums, Kirwin started serious drinking and was eventually fired from the band by Mick Fleetwood in 1973. None of Kirwan's solo releases was commercially successful. Kirwan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for his work as part of Fleetwood Mac

The band was formed in 1964 as "The Trenchcoats". By 1966 they were recognized as a truly psychedelic band. They were included on the 1967 Herman’s Hermits tour of the US which also featured The Who. They split up a year later. Never Goin’ Back To Georgia was recorded by a revamped Blues Magoos lead by Ralph Scala and Emil Theilhelm.
